We understand that selling your business is one of the more significant events in your life. To support a smooth and thoughtful transition, we’re committed to offering a flexible, collaborative process tailored to your needs. Below is a brief overview of a typical transaction timeline, which may be shorter or longer depending on the complexity of the business and transaction.

Week 1

Initial Conversation 

We start with an introductory meeting to get to know each other and discuss your goals.

Week 2 - 3

Non-Disclosure Agreement & Initial Review 

After signing an NDA, we review financials and learn about the business and its market.

Week 4

In-Person Meetings 

We visit your business to see operations firsthand and begin early valuation discussions.

Week 5 - 6

Letter of Intent 

We propose key deal terms in a Letter of Intent based on our initial findings.

Week 7 - 10

Confirmatory Diligence 

Our team and 3rd-party advisors complete financial, legal, tax, and operational reviews.

Week 11 - 12

Final Closing 

We finalize legal agreements, transfer funds, and celebrate the start of our partnership.

Ian Luo

Managing Partner

Ian founded L & L Partners out of a deep passion for investing in and scaling small to medium-sized businesses. This passion was sparked early on as he watched his family build their business from the ground up on a different continent. Inspired by his family's resilience and determination to succeed, Ian pursued his career at some of Canada’s leading and most reputable professional services and investment firms, where he gained nearly a decade of financial and operational experience. With an entrepreneurial mindset and a disciplined approach, Ian now brings the structure and rigor typically found in larger organizations to the lower mid-market.​

Outside of work, Ian enjoys golfing, trail running, and riding his motorcycle through the backroads of British Columbia.

Tim Gibbs

Advisor

Tim is a seasoned banker with extensive domestic and international experience. In his last career position, he was General Manager for Emirates Bank International where he led the sale of its Pakistan operation on behalf of its controlling shareholder, the Government of Dubai. Previously he served both as the executive officer for RBC’s Global Private Banking throughout Asia Pacific and for all RBC’s businesses in Greater China. He is currently a board member and treasurer of one of the largest condominium developments in Latin America. â€‹

Tim brings a diverse set of leadership, financial, and operational skills to the L & L Partners advisory team.

Peter Kim

Advisor

Peter is a seasoned financial professional with over 15 years of domestic and international transaction advisory experience. He has advised private equity firms, family offices, pension funds, and corporates on deals ranging from owner-operated businesses to transactions exceeding $10 billion. At L&L Partners, Peter supports due diligence, structuring, financial reporting, and governance, bringing a practical, detail-oriented approach shaped by his experience at a Big 4 firm, a U.S. middle-market advisory, and a boutique M&A practice. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, reading, and time with his two young sons
